Outing Details Private lake Near Mexia

Diving Rebel’s overnight outing near Mexia, (pronounced muh-HAY-uh) , scheduled for May 3-4,
2025.

Join us for an unforgettable adventure at Bill Ward’s Ranch! Get ready to explore the clear
water filled quarries, great for diving and perfect for your small watercraft. We may be the first
to explore some of these quarries.

Bring your dive gear and plenty of air since there are no air fills available on site. If you plan to
explore the deepest parts below the thermocline, bring warm gear. Most areas are under 20 feet but there are some parts deeper to explore.

There are two 30-amp and one 50-amp hook-ups for electricity at Bill’s quarry for you campers
and plenty of space for tents. Bring your camp chair as well. For those who do not prefer to
camp, about 6 miles east there are nearby hotels in Mexia. Recommend either Comfort Inn &
Suites or Best Western Limestone Inn & Suites costing about $100 per night.

There will be a meal share on Saturday night for this outing and a bonfire if conditions are
permitting. We will be asking for participants to bring an entree, side, or dessert. Please bring it
along with other food and drinks as you would any camping trip.

For those who wish to assist Bill and Kent in balancing the bass and sunfish population, fishing is
encouraged. However, any bass over 3 pounds must remain in the water.

For those who wish to bank fish, there are some spots that are highly productive on Bill’s side of the road.
The clear water filled quarry at the campsite and at Kent Yelverton’s quarry across the road are
easily traversed in your watercraft. We request a $5 contribution to be given to the owner to cover the cost of the port-a-poty.

Directions will be provided to the outing to everyone who has signed up so contact us and let us
know that you want to come.
