Just a little recent activity:
Jun 13th 2026 Outing: – Annual Luau @ Wheeler Branch Park with the SCUBA Dillos. We had a great Saturday at the lake. The weather was mild, turn out of about 25 or so members of both clubs and we played some games and made some dives. The good news is that it was easy to get over the Hydrilla this year as the lake was up, but it was up due to them pumping a large amount of water in from the Paluxy River, which added a substantial amount of turbidity and some current to the dives. Once out South of the inflow or deeper than 23 foot thermocline it was not too bad, 8-10 foot, considering the circumstances. Many thanks to the SCUBAdillos for putting the event together, their board and especially Bill Davidson who crafted the shore games.
March outing: was the weather rescheduled San Marcos River cleanup. We had a good turn out, but unfortunately the Spring which usually averages around 189 Cubic feet per second, was only producing a year 50 year low of 76 cubic feet per second! The result was we just attempted a dive at the Rio Vista park which was shallow and due to the Spring Break waders had poor visibility. April Outing was the Mexia dive. The clear water was comfortable in a 3-mil wet suit as the day rapidly warmed up to a beautiful day as we dove the first lake. After lunch, we visited a second lake which we had not dived before. We found large stacks of boulders reaching twelve feet or more with more than a little resemblance to a coral reef.
