Notes from the President of the Diving Rebels

Welcome all to the 2019 !!!  I’d like to start by thanking last year’s Board of Directors for all they did in making 2018 a great year. It’s a new year and time for a few tweaks.  I believe change can be good. This fresh new year will bring a few, such as different types of events, how information is communicated and the flow of meetings.

Events/Activities:  The life blood of the club is its members, participation and activities/outings.  We are off to a good start with about 30 member renewals so far and three planned events: the Polar Bear Plunge, Annual San Marcos River clean-up and Lake Murray multi-club dive with Wine & Cheese Contest. I’d love to hear any and all ideas you might have for future activities going forward.  This could be new places to dive, new social get togethers, or service oriented activities.  NOTE: There is still an opportunity to be a part of the planning in the capacity of Activities Coordinator.

Information dissemination:  Since getting information to the membership in a timely manner is of utmost importance; our new webmaster will be creating a format to enable current up-to-date information.  (Refer to separate email for more details.)

Meetings:  The flow of the meeting will focus on members and events; therefore, business issues will swap places with the fun stuff.  What have we done and what are we planning to do. Of course, we will strive to have a variety of speakers in the middle.  Again, I’d love to get any ideas on topics.

I see 2019 as a year of fun and camaraderie as we build membership and learn new things.
