The Scuba Ranch at Clear Springs Outing

At the last meeting of the Diving Rebels Scuba Club’s Board of Directors, it was decided to move the club’s venue for our July outing to The Scuba Ranch at Clear Springs in Terrell.

For those of you who don’t know, Clear Springs Scuba Park recently came under new management and was “rechristened” as The Scuba Ranch at Clear Springs.

On July 21–22, we’ll gather at The Scuba Ranch, 8131 County Road 346, Terrell, TX 75161 (940-765-DIVE), for a weekend of fun, fellowship, and diving as we check out what the new owners are doing at one of the most iconic inland dive sites in Texas. The park, which first opened in June 2001, features a 22-acre spring-fed lake that has some of the most beautiful, natural habitats seen in a freshwater Texas lake.

This is one of my favorite places to dive in Texas. We were there on June 16, and the visibility was very good, at least 20 feet, with a surface water temperature of 83 degrees. I understand the owners have sunk a new plane, generally spruced up the check-in area, and even given Sisco the Shark a “makeover.” In addition, they’re offering kayaks for rent ($25 per kayak per day) and have upgraded their snack bar, now including ice cream treats! The Scuba Ranch is open Fridays from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, Saturdays from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, and Sundays from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.

They’ll also open Monday through Thursday by appointment. Snorkeling and swimming are now allowed, and the entry fee for everyone (divers, snorkelers, swimmers, and observers) is $20 per day. You can camp in your tent overnight for a fee of $10.00, and RV and electrical hookups cost $25.00 for two people. As an added amenity, you can now pay by credit/debit card as well as cash. For more information, check out their website at https://thescubaranch.com/. Whether you come out for the weekend or just on Saturday, you’re sure to have a good time with your fellow Diving Rebels. We’ll have more information about the outing during our membership meeting on July 11, and you can sign up for it then.
